Welcome!
Does the quality of the equipment employed by electricians equal the grade of work they are doing? I really believe the reply is mostly yes. Through the years, the electricians I've are in contact with have proven this to become correct more often than not. I am not referring to a student or helper in the beginning stages. They could be checking out the trade to see if it's what they want to accomplish as a living or might not be making enough money yet to cover the better tools.
I'm referring to journeyman level workers. The people that may see the blueprints and go do the tasks allotted to them. These individuals appear to realize that the right tool to do the job actually makes the job easier and faster, therefore causing them to be more productive and being more productive means they are more valuable to the employer. Yet there are many that choose the bargain tools. Why spend $35.00 on lineman pliers when you can get exactly the same thing manufactured in China for $12.95? Don't you think do the same thing? At first they appear quite equal.
Try cutting some #1 wire with each. Did a budget tool get the job done? Can it get it done more often than once? You will find out that in the end the standard tools will last longer and continue to do their job. I am aware some guys that have Klein pliers which can be 20 years old but still rely on them daily. How many Chinese pliers can you have undergone in Two decades?
I also tend to feel that in case a man buys cheap tools he really isn't in the trade while he enjoys it, he just will it to make a paycheck. If you are not doing it since you enjoy it, then you probably won't put forth the time and effort to complete an excellent job. Electrical work should be given serious attention. It shouldn't be a hobby. The work we do truly does boil right down to life or death. If improperly installed it may cost lives, property damage, quiet time.
Using quality tools can create a difference. If we do nice work, then a contractors we benefit will be more more likely to use us on future projects and inspectors may have more confidence within our compliance with all the code. Learning to execute a quality job usually translates into more understanding of the trade. If we take pride in our work we are going to be proud of our knowledge of the trade, each goes hand in hand.
